Current studies

This year (2005-2006) I am studying an MSc in Multidisciplinary Informatics at University of Leeds, UK. Informatics is the application of computer and statistical techniques to the management of information, a quite hard and scientific field if you ask me!

The modules of my current course include:
Introduction to Systems thinking, Computational Modelling, Envisioning Information and Architectures for Complex IT Systems. I have chosen Biology as my optional module, within the area of which I will be applying the Informatics techniques and methods. I will also be working on my dissertation from February. most likely within the area of Bioinformatics.

Other academic qualifications

I have previously studied an MSc in Business Studies at Aston University (2004-2005), in Birmingham, UK. My dissertation was entitled "Review of Service Quality for bodybuilders in Birmingham: Implications for Marketing", a novel topic of little academic research. Using the Mystery shopper methodology in clubs around Birmingham. I conducted an analysis and formulated recommendations to club management.

My first degree was a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Exeter (2001-2004), UK. My major project in my 3rd year was entitled "Textualising route maps", and I made a program called "RouteMapper":

  • A program to manage maps, find shortest path between locations and receive natural language instructions in text or human voice
  • Developed in Java 1.4.2 & Java SunONE Studio
  •  Featuring a customizable visual interface
  • 7 AI algorithms and own connectivity algorithm
  • Won 2nd place in BCS Student project evening at Plymouth University (June 2004), for which I was awarded a Professional membership to the British Computer Society.
